Mill of Grimentz

Water mill in the centre of the old village of Grimentz.

The community of Grimentz acquired two watermills by a deed of sale dated 1716. They were renovated in the early 1970s, and a vertical waterwheel installed on the south façade to recreate a working site.

Distinguishing features : The mill was given a facelift after part of it was badly damaged in May 1999. Significant reconstruction and renovation work in the traditional style has breathed new life into this gem, with millstones and a horizontal blade drive system.

The mill is open every Friday in July and August. Rye flour can be purchased on site.
