Moiry Geological Trail

A journey in time and space discovering the history of our planet

This walking trail begins at the crown of the dam (altitude 2250 m) and ends at the Moiry hut (2825 m). It is divided into 15 stages which are indicated by small green squares and white signs. The stages are not only distances, but periods of time, and each one tells you a little about the earth's history.

A guide, "Moiry: de l’Europe à l’Afrique" (Moiry: from Europe to Africa) offers a new perspective on local wildlife and mountains. It provides an accessible introduction to each stage of the itinerary, giving an outline of the many geological events that resulted in the creation of the Alps.
