Discovery day ‘Creating with plants

For this exceptional day, artist Yannick Bonvin Rey invites you to discover how plants open up new possibilities for working with the natural element.

‘In Un art écologique, art historian Paul Ardenne writes: ’We need to renew and rediscover the thread of a direct relationship with the landscape, the Earth and the cosmos.
With this vision in mind, Yannick Bonvin Rey has replaced her brushes with plants, disdained weeds and roadside plants. Between Geneva and the Val d'Anniviers, she picks her plants on the way to her studio, then tests the texture, suppleness, hardness and unusual veins of each of these untamed plants to transpose their intimate vibrations onto paper, wood or canvas.

This day is open to all, no pre-requisites necessary.


Programme
Individual ascent on foot

10h00-12h30 | Welcome and sensitive discovery of the herb garden. Picking and initial experimentation (inking the veins and transferring to sheets of paper).

12:30-14:00 | Lunch and time for yourself

14h00-16h30 | Mobile engraving workshop and poor book (sheet of paper folded in three):
- Creation of a poor book based on the morning's experiments
- Plant-based printmaking

From 4.30pm | Individual departure

Access
The Cottier mountain pasture is accessible on foot. It's a 20-minute walk from the end of the road in Pralonzet or 45 minutes from the Zinal-centre bus stop. A detailed map will be sent to you a few days before the event.
