| Useful information | Walk along the cantonal road to Ayer/Zinal, and after a short while turn left turn onto the narrow road that leads to the top end of the village, to the Torrent des Moulins river. Cross the river and join the narrow dirt track on the left. Cross over Route du Rotzec and continue along this narrow dirt track. On reaching the high-altitude pastures at La Tenda, cross the little wooden bridge over the old irrigation channel and continue to the surfaced St-Luc/Ayer road. Follow the road for about 100 metres, then take the forest road on the left. Continue, following signs for Gillou/Hôtel Weisshorn. After reaching the top of the clearing at Gillou d’en Haut, descend to the left for 100 m, where you will see the geographical centre of Valais, marked by a flag flying from a larch wood flagpole. After another hour’s climbing, you will finally reach the legendary Hôtel Weisshorn. |
