TVA - Stage 1: Les Pontis - St-Luc via Chandolin

Sierre > Les Pontis by bus, then St-Luc via Chandolin on foot

From Sierre/Railway station (542 m), the bus takes you on the Val d'Anniviers road. After a few hairpin bends and passing into the valley's gorges, you leave the bus at the Pontis bus stop" (1001 m)
After an hour's hike on a relatively steep slope, you discover a little corner of paradise: Soussillon (1388 m)
From here, the climb continues to reach Chandolin (approx. 1h30)
Cross the old village of Chandolin, passing under the church, in front of the Ella Maillart Museum and head to St-Luc (1655 m) by following the historical path Chandolin / St-Luc (approx. 1h30)

• Itinerary option from the Railway station

Sierre > Finges (on foot or by bus) then St-Luc via Chandolin on foot via the Chapelle de St-Antoine (approx. 5h30)

• Itinerary option from Soussillon

Reach Chandolin via the Ponchet mountain pasture (1950 m and approx. 2 hours), along a pretty wild trail holding some nice surprises (fauna and flora). Note : this option is only recommended to good hikers. From Ponchet, a wide forest road leads to Chandolin (approx. 1.5 hours). Don't miss the view over the Illgraben, a unique erosion site in Europe. The Illgraben is known as the most beautiful and immense rock circus resulting from the collapse of the mountain due to erosion

• Itinerary option from Chandolin to St-Luc

Reach St-Luc by the high route, following the Sierre-Zinal race trail, leading via a fresh pines forest to Tignousa, top of the funicular (2186 m and 1h15 min). From there, you can reach St-Luc by funicular in 7 minutes (free with the Magic Pass, 50% discount with the Anniviers Liberté Pass) (1655 m), or, if you feel like, on foot following the forest road (approx. 1h30).
