Located in the Zinal sector, Mammut Avalanche Training Center allows those who love skiing, off-piste skiing and hiking to test how they handle avalanche victim detection equipment (AVD) in conditions that closely mirror reality.
On an incline at 2,500m altitude in the Grimentz-Zinal ski area, Mammut Avalanche Training Center is geared towards off-piste skiers and hikers who want to learn how to use AVD in a realistic simulated situation.
How does Mammut Avalanche Training Center work? 16 transmitters buried under the snow, in an area of 500m2, represent an avalanche cone. Start by selecting the number of victims buried by activating the beacons via the control room. One or more transmitters are switched on at random. Once the beacons have been activated, you can start looking for people needing to be rescued using an AVD and a sensor. The transmitters automatically transmit a signal once the search has been successful.
