Situated at the heart of a ring of several 4000+m peaks known as the “Imperial Crown” the Grand Mountet Moutain Hut is the start of numerous ascents.
| Useful information | Walk along either bank of the river Navisence, then take the small forest track that climbs to the right at the end of the plats de la Lée. After about 30 minutes, turn left at the fork in the path and head towards the bridge over the Navisence. Frome there, take the path on the right that zig-zags up above the moraine and continues along the slope of Mt Besso, with a lovely view over the Zinal glacier. After walking across a footbridge and a section fitted with ropes and chains, there is just a long, almost flat stretch of scree before you reach the cabane. |
